Ahh: Crysis MP Beta Footage

Hmmm .. What to say..

Fory anyone who has been wanting to see what Crysis would look like on the HP Blackbird, here is a small sample of meaningless wandering through Beta Island out of combat. I chose an empty server so I could run around and demonstrate the environment with out constantly showing you how badly I play FPS games. I've always been more of an RTS/RPG player so no laughing at my a) driving ability, b) uncontrollable straffing.. ;)

Awesome.
I have been looking for another Blackbird 002 owner on the net. Congrats on having one for FREE!
I use my Blackbird for 3D, Afer Effects, Video, DVD, Photoshop and have been amazed at how well 2 sticks of RAM does with a Quad core cpu and 1.5GB of GPU SLi.
The water cooled system is great, very quiet considering, more like the hum of an air-conditioner on low fan from twenty foot away.

I also have set up Sonar 7 from Cakewalk and with MOTU 828 firewire sound card it performs swell.

All in all I am very, very pleased with HP Blackbird 002. I'm playing Ghost Recon that Asus bundles with the motherboard and it's very cool at showing off SLi. The Orange Box still has to arrive. I had hoped it would come with the rig but something about Canada, a T-shirt, not being able to export textiles!

I had some major problems getting it shipped which I think will help new customers as they should have resolved soon. HP America really let the side down by not giving Memphis FedEx/customs the part numbers. Their executive customer support didn't know the HP Blackbird 002 was an HP product!

Voodoo/HP Gaming are the most amazing bunch. They care. The standard of service, as long as it is old Voodoo staff is better than Apple. I've never had emails several times a day, phone calls, all to keep me informed and to get my Blackbird to arrive. Had it for 8 days now. I LOVE IT!

All in all the only computer I have ever bought that does not make me regret paying interest on my credit card.

Hp Gaming is a new company but their dedication to customers who bought or won is better than HP America or I'd guess HP Canada.

I'll keep tabs on your site. Do you know of any other happy onwers? that is with Blackbirds sitting on their desk?

So far friends who have seen it are totally jealous and in awe. Though they it is best to build I point out that the Blackbird case will be re-used for years to come, even if I put a new motherboard in.

Anyway good luck.

Cannis,

Congrats on winning a free Blackbird. I'm from Canada and was not eligible for the contest, so I had to purchase my own. :(

I have a question for you and gaijindragonslayer; how do you find the noise levels of your Blackbird? Do you have it sitting next to you on your desk or is it underneath your desk?

Also, for gaijindragonslayer... how long did it take for you to receive your Blackbird from the time you ordered it? It's been about 5 days since I ordered mine and I figured I won't see it for a couple of weeks, but hoping for sooner ;)

Thanks for the blog and I'm looking forward to reading more of your Blackbird experiences.

Hey,

Thanks for posting your questions and comments!

I have found my system to very quiet, much more so that I had expected from the description. I was really surprised by the quiet operation of the water block fans. 120mm and as quiet as can be even when fully accelerated.

I know of two other Blackbird owners who also won thier systems in the same contest. SkyDrty and Mr. Macadoo. I stay in touch with Mr. Macadoo and we compare notes on the systems which has been beneficial for the review I am writing.

If you have any comments or questions you would like addressed you can send them along to me via my e-mail cannisDOTcamATgmail.com or you can post them in a comment section.

Thanks,
Cannis

BTW: There is a Facebook Group for Blackbird Owners and HP/Voodoo team members who worked on the system.

You can find it at:

Hey Cannis,

Thanks for the response. I'm glad to hear that the Blackbird is very quiet. Once I get my Blackbird, I'm thinking of putting it up on my desk rather than underneath... that way I'll be able to show it off easier. ;).

Thanks for the heads up to the Facebook group. There is also a forum over at the VooDoo site dedicated to just Blackbird. People that work at VooDoo/HP participate on the forums quite frequently and Rahul Sood himself participates from time to time.

You can find it here... http://www.voodoopc.com/boards/threads.aspx?forum=1036

I look forward to reading your continuing adventures with your Blackbird.
